New book – Simple’s Meditations: Along Route 7 around Gaeta V

Volume 8 in the series collects the most beautiful and remarkable pictures from Traveling Albatros’ cirumnavigation of Gaeta V along Route 7 as described in this post.

The Route follows mostly the coastline and is even sometimes continued as waterway or canal.

It is a very rewarding trip. I recommend to take your time, some of the creations of the residents you will pass en route are worth a second look ;-)

As with all the other books in the series, the 28 stylish pictures are accompanied by some deep wise words ;-)

You will find this book for sale only in Second Life at the souvenir kiosk in the Zoo of All Things @ Lythria (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lythria/55/181/51) and at several places in Simple’s Mountain Retreat @ Plebeja (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Plebeja/217/187/223) ;-)

All sales as always in favor of Simple’s Zoo of All Things @ Lythria.

Simple visits Bay City: Falmouth Hotel + Archeological Site of Molexandria

The Falmouth Hotel of Bay City is “a hotel, built on top of the old Bay City asylum site. Or it was a hotel, before it had to be abandoned”. The nice background story to the place can be found at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Department_of_Public_Works_Falmouth. The history of Bay City is published on the wiki too: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bay_City and a list of some of the point of interests there can be found at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Department_of_Public_Works_Bay_City.

I landed at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Falmouth/170/254/26), directly in front of the entrance. The “Creepy Tree B, PYRI, EAR, OBJ” are made by Earthy Mole, the gate by Crazy Mole.

The Blood Fountain in front of the Hotel is created by Myopic Mole and Sylvan Mole. Most objects on the parcel are owned by Michael Linden. A lot of the Hotel building is made by Sylvan Mole, some additional stuff are from Naughty Mole and Smokey Mole.

There are a lot of details to explore and enjoy. The “Male Zombie Standing” is made by Crazy Mole, the “Falmouth Pic & Frame – mona” by Sylvan Mole.

Especially eerie are the Teddy Bears by Silent Mole in the restaurant …

A beautiful Ballroom with Skeleton “Frank” by Crazy Mole and Piano and Drums by Sylvan Mole on stage.

Some rooms and the corridors are decorated. I did not found an official way upstairs around the broken lift, so I used the cam. There are enough sits available to get you on the different floors. Here are some examples of the scenes you will find there.

This Bathroom is made by Silent Mole, the mirror is animated.

The animated Coffin is another creation of Silent Mole, the “Candleabra scripted to blow out when near” is made by Sylvan Mole.

The “Art Deco Bed” is made by Silent Mole, but after the long time in this creepy Hotel, I needed some fresh air and a better place to recover ;-)

And voilà, wandering just a short stretch from Falmouth into Bay City, I found this interesting park in Imagenario.

It is the “Molexandria Archeological Site” build by Guaca Mole and Naughty Mole. You find it listed also as point of interest on  http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Department_of_Public_Works_Bay_City.

The Mole Ruins of Molexandria are made by Guaca Mole – a kind of prehistoric Linden Homes ?

The park offers a small Labyrinth, an Arena and this interesting exercise for three Avatars, also created by Guaca Mole.

I believe the glass windows on the Pavilion building are genuine Mole Art too ;-)

This was a very interesting trip and I will sure do some more visits to Bay City in the near future – so take this as an appetizer ;-)

until then …

be nice and have fun ;-)

Simple’s Balloon Rides: Sea of Fables

“Just East of Ice Bay, the Sea of Fables is a sailors dream with many points of interest and stopping off areas” – that’s how this region of about 30 sims is described on http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sea_of_Fables . Have a look there for a nice map and the location of the rezz zones. Read how this amazing work of the Moles from the Linden Department of Public Works was announced by Michael Linden on 10-20-2010 on the LDPW Blog: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/DPW-Department-of-Public-Works/Sea-of-Fables/ba-p/669426 - and from a non-Linden point of view the birth of the Sea of Fables is described here:  http://sllou.blogspot.com/2010/06/holy-moley.html …

The region is not only a sailors dream, but also one of the most rewarding places to ride a balloon ;-) All the regions are Linden owned and the islands are very beautiful examples of the craftsmanship of the Moles.

I did start at the rezz zone on Mirtoon Islands also called the “Isles of the Blessed” at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Mirtoon/93/163/21) and visited all the scattered Isles on my tour. You will find here a selection of the pictures I took en route.

Walkways and buildings on the Isles of the Blessed, here a “Golden Gazebo and Platform”, are made by Naughty Mole, the “sho.DragonChair” by Opti Mole.

Nice walkways and bridges connect all the small Mirtoon islands to allow for a small tour with nice views on the sea.

Then I rode north to visit the historical “Teen Grid Transfer Station - This is where our youngest Residents come to celebrate their transition to the Main Grid. Celebrate the spirit of Second Life!” on Baffin Island. The building is made by Lordfly Digeridoo, different creators for furnitures and decorations. This is older than the work of the moles ;-)

On neighboring “Bacchus Island”, the “Hercules with Club (FINAL)” and the “Serpent Tree: Ladon” as on top of the hill in the background the “Atlas with Globe (FINAL)” are made by Garden Mole.

Still on Bacchus Island, this “Statue of Atalanta” and the “Fruit Tree C – Golden Apples” – yes, they let golden apples fall and roll down the hill – are made by Silent Mole.

Around the hill, Athena, Hera and Aphrodite by Silent Mole are debating on the right to the golden apple.

Hera has her own small island: “Hera’s Island” by Silent Mole.

Next I cross to “Poseidon Island”, a wonderful harbour village in greek style by Mysti Mole. There are some very beautiful places scattered around the Island for the visitor to explore and enjoy.

The building on “Joppa Island” is made by Bloomin Mole.

The same Bloomin Mole is the creator of the “Cave of the Gorgon” on “Gorgon Island”.

And the same Bloomin Mole is also the creator of the buildings on ”Seriphos Island” with this “God Seated_SF_GOD_Bloomin_OB”.

And still the same Bloomin Mole also created the amazing complex building on “Perseus Island”.

Riding back to the West of the Sea, I passed “Hephaestus Isle” created by Hyper Mole.

To me the highlight of my visit to the Sea of Fables was walking the path up “Mount Olympus” made by Naughty Mole -

to find some rest playing a harp made by Myopic Mole on top ;-)

Last of the landmarks en route was the vivid “Orwood Volcano” by Crazy Mole, a small brother of the Volcano of Ichelus I visited on my Balloon Ride here.

I also passed some really amazing privately owned residences around the coastline – so I’m sure I will return some time soon for another tour along the shores of the Sea of Fables.

And on another tour I will have a look at the underwater creations by the moles mentioned on the wiki – but first I have to find me a submarine I like ;-)

Greenlaning on abandoned land

Traveling Albatros is always ready for “Don’t be where you want to drive, drive where you want to be!” – the motto of Yevad Doobie’s Greenlaners group (find the work of this explorer of the mainland roads on http://greenlaners.com/ and http://protected-routes.com/).

So standing at the rezz zone on Route 12A at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Camorro/249/13/50) on Nautilus and realizing all the abandoned parcels for sale in the neighborhood, it came just natural to him to try a way south, but away from the Linden Route. About 10 regions south starts Route 13, so the intention was to look for a path there, using only linden owned land or parcels for sale.

Very handy for a tour like this comes the ”Path_Map_v14″ by Kimiko Dover, a small HUD device, which shows for a whole region the access settings of every parcel. With this attached, you can circumvent easy the banned properties.

And as last resort, my horsey can grow himself some wings, and jump the obstacles ;-)

But there was just once the need for that. This part of the mainland is a real mess in desperate need of some deep maintenance. There were even linden owned parcels of abandoned land with their old access restrictions still active …

Even the rare larger privately owned holdings were more or less derelict. I had to cross two Rentals on my way. On the first one, there were apparently vampire squatters active in the past.

The second one here looked not much more busy, some of these parcels were set to the Austria in SL group.

These two Rentals were the only parcels I had to cross which were not linden owned parcels or parcels set for sale by their owners :-(

It really is not a good message about the economy of second life, that it was possible to take almost a straight path to the south to arrive at Route 13 at the rezz zone in Borland Fell at  (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Borland%20Fell/209/248/81), and that I never needed to teleport to the other side of a banned parcel …

About 12 regions were crossed this way – and not one place was it really worth to have another look or take a picture - I think I will keep my travels along the official routes from now on ;-)

be nice and have fun …

Simple goes shopping again

It’s about time for another shopping tour with Simple, firstly to celebrate the completion of the circumnavigation of Gaeta V by Traveling Albatros and secondly to check out some of my favorite creators for stuff to add to the collection in the Zoo of All Things @ Lythria.

First I made a visit to “Herbalys ‘Sky Orchard’” owned by Albert Beerbaum (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001500657596).

These floating islands constitute a wonderful scenery, perfectly fitting to the very unique style of his products. There are only a few but very impressive creations for sale and everything is very carefully and lovingly crafted.

You find a lot of his stuff in the Zoo.

Then I made a tour at “DAMANI – mediaviewer, weather, kittens, prefab houses, video - Home of  Collection Damani, Damani Weather,  MediaViewer, Kittenz II and Damani Prefabs (and more)”.

Owner and creator of this island is Damanios Thetan. Read more about his work on http://www.damanicorp.com/blog/index.php. He seems to have left second life for good: There are no news on the blog and no more new products presented since some time.

So enjoy this wonderful creation as long as it last! This statue is called “{damani} – Organic Tech – Future?”.

But perhaps there is hope: At least the “Damani Sculpts – Watching Robot” are decorated on time for Valentine’s Day ;-)

Out of the Light and into the Dark: Next on my tour I visited the “Tormented Woods - A dark land overrun by the BloodWorx hordes: Metal Gear, PrimEvil, Dead Center, Hells Forge, and UberDark. Enter at own risk.”

The place is owned and created by JubJub Forder. Read more about his live and immense work on http://www.pixelpog.com/jubjub/. This is one of his statues: the ”PrimEvil: Cthulhu Statue”.

You find a lot more of his creations used for the decorations and also some of his brands for sale here. Take your time exploring the many dark corners of the Woods, you don’t need fear a thing: Contrary to the parcel description, there are no hordes running wild there ;-)

Of course, I did purchase some objects for the Zoo underway. Have a look yourself how they add to the scenery at Lythria.

Until then

be nice and have fun …

PS. no landmarks this time: look up these places in search yourself, they are worth it!

Along Route 7 all around Gaeta V

Now at last the whole circumnavigation in the correct sequence.

You find the Route documented on http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Gaeta_V_Network: “Gaeta is a small ‘peanut’ shaped continent to the east of Corsica and contains Route 7, a scenic road touring its coast, with two inland cross routes 7A and 7B completing the network”. I will travel another time these inland branches, the circumnavigation followed the coastal Route 7.

Around Gaeta V (along Route 7) from Putnam to Feoktistov

The final leg of my trip around this subcontinent! I retook the circumnavigation at the linden road junction under construction at Putnam, where I stopped last time.

The nearest rezz zone is located  just after the border in Fourman at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Fourman/160/254/40). I recommend to drive slowly, the road is really narrow around the junction ;-)  This part of route 7 is made by Mighty Mole.

A major accident happened obviously at “VARRIALE DESIGNS  in Putnam - Live your Dream in Second Life.  Homes, prefabs, villas, mansions, lodge, cabin, cottage, beach, tropical, bungalow” owned and created by Skyeryder Varriale, set to the Varriale Holdings group. Perhaps answering to the ugly sight on the parcel on the other side of the road. The land is without description, and restricted to age verified residents. It is set to the White River Enterprises group, claimed in May 2011 and presents an ugly, unfinished, too huge and even partially untextured construction. Really no place to live your dream next to …

The road passes more abandoned land in the next region Motru. There was no rezz zone on the border.

Also abandoned some dogs owned by Darrk Iceghost on the parcel “::SCREAM:: MAINSTORE & FISHING LOCATION - clothes, 7 seas fishing, tutus, boomers, neko, baggies, rave, lucky chairs” owned by the ::SCREAM:: cUStOmEr FaNS group. Read more about these Amaretto breedables on http://www.amarettobreedables.com/.

The Road runs directly to the NW corner of the region, where it leads a very short stretch through Banyaga. The whole part of the route there at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Banyaga/253/247/30) is set as rezz zone. This is not continued to the next region, Troelstra.

There, the road runs through the Bloom Estates owned by David Bloom and set to the Bloom Estates group. On both side of the road were a lot of parcels for rent with some very beautiful buildings. Read more about this place on http://bloom-estates.com/

This is a “*Funky*Junk* Ariel” house by Ulaa Coronet.

On another parcel a “Thistle Rendezvous Cottage LE B.Unique (cm)” by Liz Gealach. Read more about all things thistle on http://lizgealach.com/.

This is a “Bahia Tiki- Panama House” by Aral Levitt. Read more about her stuff on http://blog.bahiatiki.com/

There is a small rezz zone on the next region border at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Troelstra/7/102/26), not continued into the next region Elbert.

In Elbert I passed the Shamrock Estates, set to the Shamrock Quality Rentals group, with some large public areas. From the group description: “Welcome to Shamrock Estates Elbert & ShamRock Island. “Shamrock the symbol of good luck”. This is what we wish you in our new homes. * We provide good quality housing and an excellent customer service * Our aim to Provide Quality housing and customer satisfaction - Property in Elbert & ShamRock Island presently available and under development – Dabs Shamrock, Shamrock Estates Owner/Landlady”. The group was founded by Dabs Shamrock. Read more about these estates on http://daby.uk.com/shamrock.htm.

On the road, this beautiful “Windmill v11″ by Marian Lean, owned by Dabs Shamrock.

A rezz zone is located on the next region border at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Elbert/8/154/23).

Most of the land in Eyharts belongs to the Second Life TV STAFF ONLY group. This impressive glass building sits on the parcel ”**  SLTV Cube  ** - [Second Life TV Cube]: Eyharts (200, 206, 30), [GaetaV], http://secondlifetv.jp/player/player.htm (放送時 URL), http://secondlifetv.jp/player/player.htm (投稿時URL)” owned by Tamu Anton.

The building seems to be created by Hsr Voom.

Still in Eyharts, I found on the parcel “EYHARTS STATION” owned by the Shamrock Quality Rentals group, the beautiful “Beeston Station” created by Followmeimthe Piedpiper and owned by Dabs Shamrock. The engine is a “Thomas the Tank Engine” by Pine Martinek also owned by Dabs Shamrock. Too bad, there is no railroad connected …

Another short rezz zone on the next region border at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Eyharts/7/157/24). Not continued into the next region Fenomess again.

On one side of the road there was an interesting mall area, set to the blue palm studio group – “WELCOME to Blue Palm Entreprise: Shops (free, tattoos & shapes and more), Clubs, Studio (Photography), Garden appartements, Shoutcast server, Garden boutique. For more information contact Louna Or City”. There were some stalls available. The buildings had different creators, most were owned by Louna Preis and City Dawg.

Entrance and view to the parcel on the other side of the road was blocked by a huge screen without gate …

The road ended then in another construction site by Mighty Mole in Feoktistov. There is a rezz zone on the water at (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Feoktistov/159/111/20), without free sailboat vendor this time. You have to rezz your own vehicle to continue the route. The building elements of the bridge are set to phantom, so you can sail through them. Take care, there are some banlines along the waterway …

After a very short stretch on the waterway I was back at Kimiko Dovers place: “Vehicle (no need to Rez) Jeep, Bike, Helicopter, Balloon, Plane, Boat - Vehicles: Attach (Wear) only type and another Rez type ;) , no need to keep on pressing keys to go straight, multi speed. Jeep, Willys, Scooter, Bike, Horse, Hot air Balloon, Helicopter, Heli, Hangglider, AirPlane, Kayak, Schooner, Sloop, Yacht, Tug boat”.

Here I started the trip with this post. It was a long travel, through some very different and interesting scenes. The route passes a lot of mostly residential areas with some very nice creations and landscapes along the way.

I hope you liked these short reports from Gaeta V as I loved creating them ;-) It is just a small view on this subcontinent, as it presented itself ca Dec – Jan 2011 / 12, but I believe, I listed many good locations to start a short tour and I’m sure, you find the right spot to start and explore it yourself ;-)

Me, I’m confident I will repeat this roundtrip sometime. I’m curious to see how the land will develop and evolve.

.

As always, be nice and have fun on your travels sl or rl …
