Along the High Mountain Road (Route 6) / Heterocera Atoll: The Mountain Greenhouse @ Plebeja

Just next to Simple’s Mountain Retreat in Plebeja you find a nice 3456m2 public place called The Mountain Greenhouse. The parcel is not listed in SL search, so only known to the travellers of the high Mountain Road and to the readers of this blog 😉

The description of the parcel says: “Hi and welcome at mountain greenhouse. I dreamed of living in a greenhouse so i decided to do so.” It is group owned by the Mountain Greenhouse group, founded by seventhwave. In his profile he describes his role as “I am just the good spirit of Mountain Greenhouse paying the bills and cleaning up the mess after every party”.

You reach the parcel from the High Mountain Road climbing straight up the hill from http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Plebeja/52/50/128 or you can tp directly to the forecourt at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Plebeja/38/91/170

The Glasshouse @ Plebeja

The building is very beautifully located on the ridge with a nice view over several sims (and to my Mountain Retreat). The greenhouse and the gazebo are made by Phoebe Avro, Owner of The House of Avro Gothic Furniture and Castle Furniture – “I build Gothic furniture, castle furnishings and Antique items”, Part owner of Club End of Days Gothic Club, one of the oldest Goth clubs in SL and Owner of The largest Christmas shop in sl – Christmas at The house of Avro (open 3 months a year). A very impressive list indeed 😉

The nicely animated furniture in the gazebo is made by Harrpo Marabana.

The Glasshouse @ Plebeja

The Gargoyle on top of the gazebo is a “Bad Katz Mesh Gargoyle”, made by Katz Republic – Owner of Bad Katz Textures.

The Mountain Greenhouse @ Plebeja

The greenhouse is fully furnished, you will find many places to take your selfie 😉 The furniture is a very carefully selected collection of pieces from Yelly Donut (yelena.istmal) – [noctis] and Akaesha Revnik – Akaesha Designs. The TV displaying visitors profile pictures is an old Freebie from the Golden Oriole made by the famous builder Oriolus Oliva.

The greenhouse itself is a nice piece of work: Despite the amount of transparent textures, all conflicts all carefully averted and the structures of the walls and the roof are making very nice shadowplays on the tiled floor.

The Glasshouse @ Plebeja

Upstairs a beautiful bath by Akaesha Revnik – Akaesha Designs is set up for the tired traveller to get the avatar clean and prosper again after touring the dusty (or muddy?) High Mountain Road. Additional furniture is again made by Yelly Donut (yelena.istmal) – [noctis].

The plants here and downstairs including the beautiful orchid behind the bathtub are made by Logan Bauer (“Hi!  I run Arctic Greenhouse and Logan’s Virtual Showroom, in the sim “Alternate Reality”).

The Glasshouse @ Plebeja

There are still many of these small places worth visiting and enjoying to be found on the mainland. Generally more so along the roads and railways. The building of this network some years ago was in my opinion one of the greatest achievements of the Lindens (and the Moles!) in the history of SL. Now it still binds the regions together, despite the fact that many of the parcels in between are abandoned and empty.

The character of the mainland gets less and less suburban and more and more rural. But that in my eyes is a development not for the worse 😉

So Traveling will again saddle his horse and show you soon on this blog, what treasures still can be found on Mainland SL. And a big thumps up from and to all the connoisseurs: Greenlaning is groovy for real again 🙂

Simple’s Mountain Retreat @ Plebeja: 2015

My long time home and beloved workplace in Plebeja on the Heterocera Atoll (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Plebeja/217/187/223). More about this place here. You can’t miss it traveling the High Mountain Road. It even found its way into the secondlife Wiki now: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mountains_Of_Heterocera 🙂

Too bad the Rezz Zone on the road as mentioned in the Wiki (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Heterocera_Route_6) doesn’t exist anymore. Now you find the nearest Rezz Zone along the road in Moth (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Moth/236/31/128).

Simple's Mountain Retreat @ Plebeja (13-11-2014)

The parcel includes 24’176sqm / ~ 5’500 prims. Before the partial reconstruction sometimes I was running short of prims while building or sorting inventory. Just in rebuilding the old school floors and replacing the complicated ramps / stairs by spiral staircases, I did spare more than enough prims – even enough to add some new fancy waterfalls. And I still have some 1500 prims in reserve 🙂

Simple's Mountain Retreat @ Plebeja: New Waterfall

I like the look of these staircases – they are realistically massive but still elegant and wide and secure enough for an easy walk. Here a view of the balcony:

Like the Zoo, this is and will ever be a work in progress. Some ideas prove worthwhile, some don’t turn out the way I imagined and stay more or less unfinished, waiting for the next attempt. But some places really feel like home 🙂 Here a detail of the garden located on the top terrace:

Simple's Mountain Retreat @ Plebeja: Top Garden

The “Mookah (Multi Chair Hookah) v1.0.43” by Timeless Prototype – Timeless Gadget – is one of the oldest objects in my inventory – and still much in use 😉

On the middle terrace you will find a wonderful addition, the “~*FF*~ Elemental Falls “Earth” by Uni Ninetails – ~*Forest Floor*~ Gardens & Dreamscapes. It makes a nice place to fiddle around with the lights, shadows and Depth of Field settings of the phototools.

Simple's Mountain Retreat @ Plebeja: Midgarden

The head here and the hands of the new waterfall are from a set of sculpties called “Chakra Nova BODY PRIMS” by Pumpkin Tripsa. According his profile he is “Currently working on coming back to SL. Very excited about that.” I’m very exited about his return too. He is one of my favourite creators but did leave sl before I started collecting for real. So you find only two of his statues on display in the Zoo of All Things @ Lythria (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lythria/108/40/59): A “Seraph (dark gilded)” and the “Ganesha (marble)”. I hope he will bring his old work back too, I remember seeing some fantastic gargoyle statues in his shop 🙂

Next, I plan to reconstruct the wooden ramps / walkway from the road. I do have a set of building elements in my inventory from dop Kidd (dop.kidd) – KIDD Grass that will fit very nicely. But there are some other items on the sl todo-list for both Simple and Traveling. So do not expect this reconstruction happening soon. You will read all about it on this blog 🙂

Simple Wunderlich was guest on the wonderful Designing Worlds show on treet.tv ! It came as a surprise and I still do not grasp, why I was so honored (and who is to blame) 😉

And I’m ROFLMAO every time I hear my accent. I for sure should switch to Voice and exercise some pronunciations 😉

The High Mountain Road (Route 6) on Heterocera Atoll from Pavonia to Athetis

This route is well documented on the secondlife wiki: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Heterocera_Route_6. I like the descriptions by Hyper Mole: “Much civil engineering work has been carried out on this lonely and at times vertiginous road linking the SLRR with the Great Wall of Second Life, along a twisting, climbing route navigating the footslopes of the highest peak on the mainland, Mount Campion. Hardy travellers not afraid of mud, giddy heights or splinters in the foot, may now travel this way. The eastern hitherto impassable cliff face sections have now been bridged and made free to explore, while the western hillsides nearer to the broken wall still require an all terrain vehicle ideally of the four legged variety .. neigh !”  The pictures on the wiki are taken by Mr. Garden Mole himself.

Here my trip along the backbone of the Atoll in sequence:

I started in Pavonia, rode then from

Nolidae to Campion (highest point in Secondlife),

Campion to Arches

Lapara to Fucosa

ending on the foot of the Great Wall in Athetis.

see you on the road 😉

Lota – Euclidia – Parva – Deltote – Athetis (Route 6 – the High Mountain Road – Heterocera Atoll)

This ends the trip I last ended here and started here. As I leave the rezz zone in Moth (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Moth/239/33/128) this wonderful building came into view.

A “Brueghel Castle” by Oriolus Oliva. The land is open to the public.

Owned by ThomasD Felisimo and set to the “Sardines don’t Panic” group (group description: “Bring your towel”, members title: “Mostly Harmless”) 😉

This is an amazing work and creation. And some beautiful surprises inside. Mr. Felisimo seems to be a gentleman with a very fine taste 😉

A “Belle Belle Time Machine” made by Leyla Firefly.

Here in Lota, the hillside gets almost vertical again. Mr. Garden Mole did an amazing work in carving out a paved road made of “GreatWallCobbleRoad+patch” lined with “Great Wall Pillar fragment 1” (both made by Garden Mole) along this wall.

The route gives a wide open view to the parcels below with some wonderful creations. This one is owned by Mr. ThomasD Felisimo again …

Just before the crossing to Euclidia, a beautiful rezz zone (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lota/89/20/128). In Euclidia you can see the railway of the SLRR from the road, you don’t even have to rise up your draw distance very much. I usually travel at 176m and rise it to 256m for some pictures. I do not have enough bandwidth for more 😦

After a short bridge build using the “LDPW_trestle_bridge_section”, there is a privately owned path wich connects the High Mountain Road with the SLRR. The entry is not marked but easy to find. The land “The Swamp (Horses and Turtles)” is open to the public.

Just before the border another short bridge, the waterfall is added by Bree Birke, and then I arrive at the Parva rezz zone (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Parva/27/225/128).

The High Mountain Road runs just through the NW corner of Parva. Like in Moth, the whole stretch of the road is set as rezz zone. There I found the “Route 6 Lookout Point”, privately owned by the “Paradise Railroad Holdings” group. It is a station for the Great Wall Pedaloon Tour by Pedal Balloon and the  Hooktip Horse Tour on Horseback by the Guided Tours Company. A TP point invites you to the hilltop, where a long ZipLine Ride down the hillside starts.

The road here and the first part in Deltote is made by Garden Mole out of “GreatWallCobbleGrassedRoadLumpy” – some rough terrain 😉

It follows, after that short stretch, in my opinion the most beautiful part of the route.

There are even some “Road Horse Trough” to find. Touch the lid to open them and get to the water 😉

On the parcel “Paradise Rendevous, The Tranquility Oasis” owned by Indyjoe Rinkitink a historic relic, a “Sally’s Genie Bottle, all proceeds go to 2006 Relay for Life” made by HoseQueen McLean. Still one of the most wonderful examples of secondlife creativity. The land is open to visit.

Some rats made by Garden Mole scurry over the pavement.

The High Mountain Road ends here http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Athetis/122/105/114 at the Athetis rezz zone. I’m now at the foot of the Great Wall. This is a real antiquity, wich stretches over at least 12 regions. I for sure will travel that another time.

The “Bridle Path Horse Riding Depot, Come get a free horse to ride on a beautiful bridal trail or sit a spell and check out the strange artifacts. Trains to ride, too! Or explore the secret passage. Porch swing. SL Public Land Preserve $5 one-time fee to help keep SL free!” owned by the “Ravenglass Rentals” group / Prokofy Neva, offers a free “Crimson Phoenix Saddle Rezzer IV” to choose from 4 horses. Read the notecard, you have to join the open group before the ride. These are very nice and beautiful horses, a generous offer from Mr. Prokofy Neva. The parcel has access to the railway too.

There are 4 (!) routes running through Athetis. No connection for miles around 😉

But you can easy cross over the public Ravenglass Rentals land with the horse rezzer down to the railway and the Athetis RR Station (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Athetis/215/132/81).

Perhaps I will start a new trip there – another day 😉

until then

be nice and have fun on the road …
